Introduction:
Robin Gibb’s Lasting Legacy: How Love, Family, and New Life Helped Heal a Heartbroken Home
More than two years after the passing of Bee Gees legend Robin Gibb, his presence still lingers in every corner of the historic Oxfordshire mansion he once shared with his beloved wife, Dwina Gibb.
Nestled within the walls of the magnificent 13th-century estate, memories of the iconic singer remain untouched. Silver-framed photographs capture Robin alongside his brothers Maurice, Barry, and Andy—images that tell the story of one of music’s most celebrated families. Gold and platinum records line the walls, marking the extraordinary success of the Bee Gees, whose music sold more than 200 million copies worldwide and shaped generations of popular culture.
For Dwina, changing the house has never been an option.
“There’s no need to change anything,” she says. “Robin was a part of this house. Keeping everything as it was helps me feel that he is still here.”
Following Robin’s death in 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer and kidney failure, the mansion fell into a period of profound silence. The music that once echoed through the halls at all hours of the night suddenly stopped. The laughter, creativity, and larger-than-life personality that defined Robin were gone, leaving behind a painful void.
Yet amid the grief, an unexpected source of hope arrived.
Just fourteen months after Robin’s passing, his grandson, Maxwell-Robin Gibb, was born to Robin and Dwina’s son, Robin-John “RJ” Gibb, and his partner Megan. The child’s arrival transformed the atmosphere of the home.
“The baby brought joy back into our lives,” Dwina recalls. “When you’re grieving, a new life gives you something to focus on. Suddenly there’s laughter again, and a future to look forward to.”
She often babysits Maxwell and delights in watching him grow, noting small traits that remind her of his grandfather. His mannerisms, sensitivity to sound, and curious nature have sparked emotional memories of Robin, making the young boy feel like a living connection to the family’s beloved patriarch.

While embracing her role as a grandmother, Dwina has also found healing through creativity. An accomplished artist and writer, she completed her first stage play, Last Confessions of a Scallywag, a humorous Irish farce about a dying man whose decision to tell the truth causes chaos among family and friends. Writing the play became a form of therapy, helping her navigate loss while celebrating the wit and humor she shared with Robin throughout their marriage.
Despite facing difficult chapters—including public revelations about Robin’s personal life—Dwina remains focused on the enduring strength of their relationship. She describes a bond built on love, understanding, and mutual respect, one that survived every challenge life presented.
Today, Robin’s legacy continues through both his music and his family. Their son RJ has worked to preserve his father’s final recordings, ensuring that future generations can hear the unmistakable voice that helped define an era.
For Dwina, Robin’s greatest gift was never fame or fortune—it was the joy, creativity, and love he brought into the lives of those around him. Though he is gone, she believes his spirit lives on through his songs, his family, and the memories that continue to fill the halls of the home they built together.
